stop motion Films
I believe in keeping traditional art alive. ‘Suckr for Love’ is a traditionally hand-cut papercut stop motion film that took me 4 months to animate solo and has been screened and won at international film festivals.
About me
I love sharing a little paper madness with the world and spreading magic and wonder. My pieces are traditionally hand-cut paper art inspired by nature, animals and the peculiar. My home is Germany and Canada and I now work in my studio amongst wildlife, close to lake Ontario.
One day, not too long ago, the silhouette films of former paper cut pioneer Lotte Reiniger inspired me to do a stop motion animation film of my very own, with paper cut puppets. After the film was finished and made its way around the world gracing a lot of beautiful film festivals, including Berlin Music Video Awards and St. John’s International Women Film Festival, and winning best film in some, I kept on my wheels of imagination cutting paper after paper to make Papercut art, also known as Scherenschnitt. I love experimenting with light and shadow play, colored paper, different paper styles and textures such as Japanese Kozo Paper.
Having left the corporate world as a professional 2D animation artist and graphic designer, I am now a freelance artist using a wide range of mediums to create, including hand drawn, paper cut, classical stop motion as well as digital animation.
And here we are, countless Papercuts later, my work has been seen on coffee cup sleeves at Calii Love coffee shop and in past participations such as DesignTO and TOAF, on City TV, and my paper cut skills have been commissioned for workshops in papercutting and artwork on the Lionsgate TV Show “Gray”.
